Netgear Readynas 3200 2LAN connection to HP Procurve 2810-XX Switch

How to configure a Netgear Readynas 3200 with 2 lan connections to a HP Procurve 2810-24 or 48 switch.
To configure a Netgear Readynas 3200 with 2 lan ports to an HP Procurve 2810-24/48 switch.
On the Netgear Readynas 3200 you have to set the LAN connections too.
At the tab Ethernet 1 you can find the subject Teaming/Failover. In this subject you have to enable both interfaces. And put the modus on ieee 802.3ad LACP

Telnet to your switch and remember on which ports you connected the both lan interfaces of the readynas.

interface 1
    name "Connection-to-Storage-LAN1"
 exit
 interface 2
    name "Connection-to-Storage-LAN2"
 exit
 trunk 1,2 Trk1 LACP
 spanning-tree
 spanning-tree Trk1 priority 4

The interface numbers are the numbers that you connected your lan interfaces of the readynas.
Name both connections so you can remember which port is connected to which lan interface.
Enable trunk port to the both storage lan interfaces, and enable spanning tree with prio 4 on the made trunk interface.
After you have configured this you can test the connection with a windows 2008 server to see if your speed is around the 100mb/s ( 1Gbit/s)

  1. Well I’ve done this test with just 1 nic on the windows 2008 server with a Fiber Connection to a SAN. Perhaps I’m able to test upcoming weeks with 2 nics on a server in teaming mode. And hope to get an higher rate of speed.
If I’ve time i can see for a configuration for a Cisco Catalyst switch how to put the settings there.
I’m using this setup for a backup solution to get an image of the server to the Readynas.

  2. Testing by several upload or download from a share to a server ( with in our case a windows 2008 R2 server in teaming mode also ) or from several servers on the same time to the same readynas.
